$60.2 Million Dedicated to Australian Global Science and Technology Diplomacy Fund to Fuel Global Partnership Expansions

Australia’s Minister for Science and Technology, The Hon. Melissa Price, has announced the Morrison Government’s pledge of $60.2 million to the Global Science and Technology Diplomacy Fund, to support the development of new international collaborative partnerships in priority research areas.

Minister Price shared, “This fund will provide Australian researchers and businesses with the skills, knowledge, and global opportunities to ensure our nation remains at the forefront of science and technological innovation, while solving some of the worldwide challenges we face. Investing in science and technology is particularly important as we navigate our way out of the COVID pandemic”.

The priority areas for research in 2022’s strategic period are as follows:

  • Advanced Manufacturing
  • Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing
  • Hydrogen Production
  • RNA Vaccinates and Therapies (including mRNA)

The investment will be managed and implemented by the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering and the Australian Academy of Science.
