MALTRA FOODS & LGPM – A 20-YEAR EVOLUTION OF PARTNERSHIP The partnership between LGPM and Maltra Foods began in 2002 with a clear vision: to modernise production with a safe, efficient, and future-proof mixing system. The initial installation, a 1.0 m³ ribbon mixer, marked the start of a long-term collaboration built on trust, performance, and shared ambition. Over the following years, the system evolved through progressive upgrades aligned with a broader Master Plan. By 2010, Maltra Foods operated a fully integrated batching and blending facility. Key upgrades included bulk sugar silos, bulk bag dischargers, gain-in-weight batching systems, and vacuum transfer technology, ensuring precise, dust-free handling and increased efficiency. Batches were stored in Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) and fed into the packing hall, allowing flexible packaging formats from sachets to bulk containers. As demand grew, Maltra Foods relocated from Moorabbin to a purpose-built facility in Clayton. LGPM played a central role in designing the new site to support hygienic processing, streamlined material flow, and rapid cleaning. A custom portal-frame steel structure eliminated internal columns, minimising dust accumulation and enhancing food safety. Conveying systems and services were cleanly routed within or outside the framework, ensuring a compliant, efficient, and scalable plant. Dedicated blending rooms were introduced to improve allergen control and process segregation. Automation and system integration delivered greater consistency, traceability, and flexibility. THE NEXT CHAPTER – PAKENHAM FACILITY In 2025, Maltra Foods is set to open a new facility in Pakenham, again partnering with LGPM for its design and build. This project represents over two decades of collaboration, with every decision informed by LGPM’s deep understanding of Maltra’s operations and future goals. The new site will feature enhanced automation, scalable production lines, and built-in capacity for future diversification—all aligned with Maltra Foods’ commitment to innovation, quality, and food safety. COMMITMENT TO STANDARDS Maltra Foods operates under globally recognised standards, including BRC, ISO 9001:2015, and HACCP certification. These accreditations ensure the delivery of high-quality, safe food products to clients across Australia and international markets.
