The Local Government Association
of Tasmania (LGAT) plays a key role
in promoting the efficient adminis-
tration and operation of the state’s
29 Councils. It was established over
a hundred years ago, in 1911. LGAT
has a statutory role and its activities
revolve around advocating for the
state’s councils, working to improve
their efficiency and providing servic-
es to councils.
